Who was Murdoch McKenzie?

Murdoch McKenzie, our Scottish immigrant to Canada, was originally from Inverness, Scotland. At the time of the blockade of Quebec by the Americans, in 1775-76, he was one of the defenders, then 26 years old. This makes him born around 1744.  His parents' names, Murdoch and Catherine McKenzie, were listed on the record when Murdoch converted from the Protestant church to the Catholic church in Quebec, Canada on July 9, 1780. There is still no evidence of Catherine's maiden name–the true key to finding his probable family in Scotland.
