Ephraim Wheeler Clapp (Stephen7, Samuel6, John5, Stephen4, Samuel3, Thomas2, Richard1) was born July 2, 1790 in New York and died October 24, 1875 in East Salem, Washington County, New York. He married Sarah Rice November 10, 18149, daughter of Clark Rice and Abigail Dewey. She was born 1798 in New York, and died September 1881 in Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Ephraim was listed in census records as a farmer. He was buried in the Old Burying Ground, Salem, Washington County, New York. Some of his daughters are buried in the plot with him.

Eagleville Covered Bridge (http://www.salem-ny.com/interest.html–gone as of 4/20/16)
The Eagleville Covered Bridge is located two miles southeast of Shushan, and can be reached by traveling east on County Route 61 through the hamlet of Shushan and turning right on Eagleville Road. The bridge was built in 1858 by Ephraim W. Clapp. It is the best preserved example in the State of a 100 ft. double-chord Town lattice truss. (See photo originating website)
